I think if I were a student today, I would be concerned with:

* equipment -- what hardware is used and how recording works
* editing -- w/r/t editing software used, and what to edit out
* syndication -- how to get into iTunes/how to promote a feed
* keeping it going -- how to continue the dialog with subject matter/listeners
* blogging/podcast services -- are there any freely available services I could piggyback on?
* test -- is this going to be on it?
