thanks for all the comments… the breathing is back to normal. One good thing is that I can get out of cleaning now because the dust and products exacerbate the problem. Yes!

Be wary of the “ionic breez.” It doesn’t really help, and it emits ozone, which some people (including me) find irritating.

I think that Brittnie meant to have a humidifier along with the AC (maybe?), although that seems counterproductive (AC’s dehumidify the air, right?). Maybe the AC isn’t worth it? I find window AC’s and car AC’s irritating and very rarely put it on in the car. Central air, though, like in the mall or at work, I can handle.

Oops, apparently you picked up the air putrifier model instead of the purifier. Common mistake!

On the subject of vacs, I love, love, love my Dyson. Sucks up cat hair like no tomorrow. I am impressed that you can keep the cats out of the bedroom. Mine would body slam herself against the door repeatedly until I let her in.

blue air, http://www.blueair.com/index.php i know nothing about them personally, except that i once considered buying one, and that they originated in sweden, and i am partial to anything made in scandinavia (they always seems to be 15 years ahead of the curve). their site says that the vac store in hadley is a dealer – i bought my miele vac there, with hepa filter, and btw do you know how much i LOVE that vac? hope the breathing goes easier.

Britt-

I like that the purifiers will remove cat dander and other things from the air that worsen my allergies. Humidifiers don’t do that.

But maybe there is a hybrid product out there that will do both.

Hope it wasn’t one the Whirlpool Whispure models from Sears. They were very highly rated last year by consumer reports, or something like that. I was thinking of getting one myself.
