dillweedz in springfield, mass.

On Friday, Matthew and I went to check out a new lunch place in downtown Springfield. It’s in the spot where the Main Street Frigo Foods used to be.  We had low expectations, considering the name of the place. Yes, it’s Dillweedz. We were pleasantly surprised by the sandwiches and pleased by the portions. Thumbs up. I really wish they’d change their name or explain its significance, though.

I enoyed the decor, from the shiny, dark hardwood floors to the brightly painted green walls. Floors not pictured.

They also use art created by local kids. This canvas is from the Dunbar Community Center. Very charming.

Photographic evidence that this place is indeed called Dillweedz.

I’m looking forward to trying the new restaurant around the corner (Dipschitz), and the one across the street (Douchebagz).

I’m intrigued by their choice of the font “Whimsy” for the sign. Usually this font is reserved for establishments that sell dream catchers.

But the big question: When are we going to check out “Pleasure Restaurant”?!!!

    The font.

    *sigh*

    Terrible. Just.

I mean, the name, too. But, the font.

People need to be held responsible for their font choices. If I were a Massachusetts legislator, I would pass some sort of law.

Up until recently, greg, the “Pleasure Restaurant” sign read

    KING CHIC & PIZZA

Never did I think of CHIC as an abbreve bef.

    OMG

I thought the same exact thing about the font. My words exactly were:

“I think the only thing competing with Dillweedz’ final, sad ending Z is the fact that they render the sign that says Dillweedz in the “Curly MT” font”

OH — you’re right, it’s “Curly MT,” not “Whimsy.”

My other favorite new restaurant font choice: The new Mexican place in Easthampton is going with the font “Burrito.”

    Say it ain’t so, Greg
